The Man and Woman of the Year Tradition

Mesa’s Man and Woman of the Year tradition was founded in 1935 by Charles and Florence Mitten, then owners of the Mesa Tribune.

Recipients of the Honor are selected by a Selection Committee comprised of all of the active previous recipients. The Selection Committee observes certain criteria in evaluating nominees.

Recipients of the Honor have ...

● Committed a greater than usual amount of time and effort to volunteer service;

● Demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile for others and have distinguished themselves through significant accomplishments.

● Clearly provided leadership excellence, motivated others and set positive examples.

● Rendered service in a variety of areas.


Residents of Mesa and those who do business in Mesa are invited to submit nominations for Mesa’s Man and Woman of the Year 2012. Nominations should be submitted by November 16, 2012, to:
